Time-Sensitive Packaging to Change the Message with the clock

Some people are making their packaging even more dynamic, by having it be tied to not just the elements, but also the time of day. This can be used for just letting on know of the time of day, when the item expires, or any scheduled actions that need to be in place.

Though we already see this with a generic expiration date on the sides of packaging, some of them are being taken to the next level with technologies that we are going to explore here.

New Technologies

Some of these technologies are different from a normal expiration date.

Time-release inks is one example. These are inks that release over a period of time, and with the releasing of such inks at a certain time, it will then be able to tell you when it’s time to engage in an action, or toss out the item.

There's also QR codes that will unlock items at the time of delivery. Again, you scan it, and once it’s been put through the system, it will unlock it, especially if there is a specific date it needs to be opened.

There's also open by times, which will tell you literally with a timer and messaging how fresh the items are. Again, all of these come together to offer the most in time-sensitive messaging that will change with the clock, and other factors as well.

Use of These

A lot of food companies will use this with perishable foods, because some people ignore the dates, or just don’t read them. with perishable food, you want to have this there, so that people don’t get sick.

Limited-edition merchandise is another. With such merchandise, you’re able to show off the items, and also let them know when it’s time to open them.

There’s also timed promotion, where you get a specific message or link that will offer a promotion, such as a code or coupon that one can use during checkout, in order to save money on a future purchase.

Again, all of these come together to create time-sensitive packaging that fits the clock, and your promotional schedule.

 The Creative Execution of this

Some people are getting creative with this. Countdown windows are one example, which will count down the time until such matters are to start, such as a sale or maybe how long you can use the item, or buy a limited-edition thing.

There’s also mood suggestions that are tied to time, such as various suggestions on how to get the most out of your packaging experience, especially if you start this in the summer. All of this can help create a more creative execution of these items, and will be a promotional bonanza.

The Marketing Potential

So why do these messages matter in the first place?

Well, it builds some serious anticipation. When you’re able to craft and build the right time-sensitive messages it builds as growing excitement that will help you really stand out, and creates a buzz of excitement.

It also is good for building urgency of the items, because when you show that something has to be bought now, customers get it together, and then engage in such purchases. Again, it works well, and it can build the best, most exciting means to make your packaging stand out.

Finally, it also fosters real-time engagement, making it even more exciting too.

Using time-sensitive messaging is a branding benefit, so consider using this today, in order to enhance the possibilities of your marketing, to really stand out in the grand scheme of things.
