Getting the Right Box to Sell

There is nothing worse than getting a return on a product that you have just sold. I hate the whole idea of returns because you are going to lose money on shipping to and from.  Then you probably have to deal with a  broken item that was damaged in transit.  If you contracted to take the loss for it as a seller then you are now stuck with a lot of wasted money.  Much of the time these returns can be completely avoided if you use the best packaging and selling products.  This can be as simple as finding the perfect box for the item you are sending.  If you get the right packaging you could end up saving your company lots of lost money.  This is an area that many people do not take into account when they are selling in the eCommerce world and it is something you need to be aware of.

 


I think that in order to find the best packaging you must find the best shipping supplies store to buy from.  This for most people is Amazon and they think there is no better option available.  But the funny thing is that they are probably selling on Amazon as well and they don't even remember that Amazon takes a 10% minimum fee on every single sale.  What does that tell you about the cost of those Shipping Supplies on there?  It tells you that the company could sell it to you cheaper if you purchased directly from them.  That is why you should always shop around and find the best location to purchase your packaging items from.

 


Now I highly suggest you call up the major manufactures of these packaging supplies items and then you will be able to find not only the best price but something even better. You will be able to call them up and get advice and information about the different items you could be using to package your item to sell.  You may need a whole different box or bag or bubble mailer.  The price difference in getting the right box could be the difference between going bankrupt at the end of the year.  Think about all the returns you could save on and possibly the cost of the package itself. Most people save 10 to 30% by purchasing directly due to all the extra information and bulk discounts they can get.  So think about this and make sure you are choosing the correct place to buy your tape and boxes from.

 


I have found tons of companies that are struggling and they are simply not staying competitive with their competition and are spending less on market and spending less on inventory and it can all actually come down to the packaging.  Their competition is spending less on each item they sell and it is showing.  This allowed them to spend the money in other areas and it allows them to crush the competition. It can even be as simple as saving money on tape for your packaging.  This could mean the difference between doubling your market budget each year.  That is a big deal right there.  So don't take these small things as being trivial when they could be business changing.  Best of luck in your sales!
